The Flower Diamond -- the diamond necklace that you’ll never forget is one-hundred percent natural and is bound to stun any who have the pleasure of viewing it. The pear-shaped, modified brilliant-cut diamond showcases a flower shaped inclusion with six slender petals that can clearly be seen if wearing the necklace. Mined in Minas Gerais, Brazil, the rough diamond was discovered at 6.23 carats and was recut to 3.02 carats in order to truly showcase the one-of-a-kind hydrogen inclusions in the heart of the stone. The hydrogen-cloud flower is perfectly symmetrical and every other petal is raised increasing the rarity of this natural marvel. Studied extensively in New York City by Wuyi Wang and Wendi Mayerson of the GIA Gem Trade Laboratory, the diamond was graded as a Fancy brown-greenish yellow, although the owner says that to the naked eye the diamond appears greenish. The Flower Diamond, now set in a pendant made of 18 karat yellow gold, is part of a platinum necklace with 32 carats of additional white diamonds. The flower shape within the Flower Diamond is a collection of hydrogen cloud inclusions that formed naturally below the Earth’s surface and make this diamond one-of-a-kind. Similar to a snowflake, inclusions are unique and a natural marvel that cannot be replicated. Inclusions are small imperfections that become part of the diamond during the creation process. Thousands of miles beneath the earth’s surface over thousands or millions of years, diamonds are created due to extreme pressure and heat. This is not a flawless process and almost all diamonds have some form of inclusions. Entirely, perfect flawless diamonds are incredibly rare.
The Flower Diamond is the perfect example that inclusions are imperfections that should not be ignored or cut away. They are a symbol that the diamond formed naturally and make The Flower DIamond unlike any other.

What is the history of Diamonds? Each and every diamond has a long and complex history, no matter the size, clarity, and color. That’s because it takes years and years, an incredible amount of pressure, and one long journey to the surface of the earth. What’s the history of Diamonds in India? The Gemology Institute of America or GIA is a nonprofit institute that was established in 1931 and remains the world's foremost authority on diamonds, colored stones, and pearls. According to GIA, “The world’s love of diamonds had its start in India, where diamonds were gathered from the country’s rivers and streams. Some historians estimate that India was trading in diamonds as early as the fourth century BC.” What’s the History of Diamonds in South America? It wasn’t until the 1700s when India’s supply of diamonds began to run low and that is when Brazil made their move. According to GIA, diamonds in Brazil were discovered in the early 1700s by miners looking for gold along the banks of the Jequitinhonha River in the state of Minas Gerais. For years and years following, Minas Gerais was a major supplier in the world of gem diamonds. When did Diamonds become Valuable? Diamonds have been cherished as rare and valuable for centuries. But it was De Beers — now an international corporation focusing on diamonds — that made the diamond industry explode. In 1947, the ad campaign and classic slogan, "A Diamond is Forever" boosted the sale of diamonds astronomically. The idea was that a marriage should last forever and so would a diamond. The History of Diamond as Rings
Not surprisingly, diamonds grew in popularity among royals and the wealthy. Diamonds would eventually become a symbol of a couple’s engagement and marriage that was a tradition adopted by many, even those without unlimited funds and status. “In 1477, Archduke Maximillian of Austria commissioned the very first diamond engagement ring on record for his betrothed, Mary of Burgundy. This sparked a trend for diamond rings among European aristocracy and nobility,” according to the American Gem Society. What’s trending in Jewelry now?
